To those of you that have done this before:

Of the schools I'm applying to, only UT-Austin actually has an online system where they verify that they've received your materials. The other 7 schools don't have anything like that, so I was wondering, how do you verify that the school actually received the document? I've recently sent in my high school transcripts and will be sending in a lot of other stuff (not electronically). I have the number to each admissions office. Should I call each one and have them check? I'm just a little confused as to how to go about this. I have no problem calling all of them, but I don't want to be annoying and I'll be calling each school like 5 times if that's how I verify receipt of documents.

I'm applying to UVA and UT-Austin, and obviously you understand UT. UVA said to mail in everything, and they actually do have an online status too, but in the long run, im going to be emailing and calling left and right to make sure every last little thing is in. There is absolutly NO (NONE AT ALL! ZIP! ZERO!) reason why you SHOULDNT call and harrass the heck out of them to make sure you have everything in. The admissions people are hired to do just that: make sure admissions stuff is in order. Email is obviously an easier solution, but DO NOT hesitate to call! (Heck, it might even show extra interest =P nice boost) They're there to help you. Plus, say you never call and check, and in May when everyone else is getting letters and you get nothing, then you finally get around to calling and by this time its too late...think of how dissapointed and angry you'd feel because you should've called...

ok cool that's what i was doing but i kept getting answering machines...so i'll have to leave a bunch of messages which is fine. just didn't want to be calling if there was some other way to check it that i should have known about.

There is no problem with calling repeatedly; admissions officers/secretaries understand the importance of having all the materials received and catalogued. Do not leave messages; talk to someone and make sure everything is there.
