So I want to study engineering in college, but the problem is I come up short to most highly ranked schools. I would like to apply to UC Berkeley, UCLA, Cornell, and Carnegie Mellon as my top choices.
So here is where I feel like my scores kind of conflict. I got a 790 on the Physics Subject Test, but only a 760 on Math Level 2 and a 690 on my real SAT. I decided to try the ACT and I got a 30 in Math, but a 33 in Science. I just retook the ACT and got my math up to 32 but my Science is 32 now, and both of my composites were 32.
Over the entire year, I did pretty well in Physics B, and I feel like I'll probably get a high 4 on the AP test, so I feel like I am pretty strong in that, but my basic math scores on my standardized tests are very low.
Will I be at the mercy of the admissions office based on my essays, or should I just try to improve the scores? I'm not sure I want to take the ACT again, but I will definitely be taking the October SAT. Could these scores get me in to these schools for engineering? Thanks

Your ACT score is very high, and definitely could get you into Cornell. Your SAT score could get you into UCLA, and you have a very good chance for UC Berkeley. Just try to get your SAT score over 2200 and you’re fine. Chance me.

@theatregirl445 Thank you for the optimism. I fill try to raise my low math and writing scores to at least 700 each so hopefully that will help.
