Hello.
I’m going to be straight up with everyone. I am an immigrant Latino. Came here when I was 10. I know it factors into admissions, so I just wanted y’all so you can gauge your answers as best as possible.
I’m a little worried about my ACT score. I am looking to apply mainly to Ivy Leagues (Cornell is my dream) and UC’s (I live in cali).
Score:
34C: 35 English, 34 Math, 35 Reading, 32 Science
I’m looking to major in physics. Do you guys think that I should try retaking the exam, given my non-stellar science score, or if I should just call it a day?
Also, I’m pretty confident I can get a higher math score if I take it again.
And if I were to get 800 on my SAT math II and physics would that be enough to make up for the “low” scores in math and science?
Your choice. I think it’s fine.
No. And thank you for putting “low” in quotes. There are no offsets; each score will be judged on its own.
I don’t think it’s necessary to retake. Congrats on a great score.
At least for the UCs, you should be good. A 34 is in the 99th percentile of students across America. Depending on your extracurriculars, you probably have a shot at the Ivies too.
