I thought that Flex dollars and points were the same thing. I think I am confused. Do I have to put additional money on the ID card (flex dollars) for spending? For some reason I thought that the points on the meal card were the same as the Flex. Someone, please clear this up for me!! Thanks!!

I’ll try to explain based on my understanding.

Points are part of the meal plan. Students can use them at the food counters in Trabant & Perkins, and at the dormitory mini-markets.

Flex is like a campus debit card program. It can be used for food, laundry, parking, copiers, etc.

[Flex FAQ](University of Delaware: Flex)

I added some flex funds on my daughter’s account strictly for doing laundry since it was easier than scrounging for coins.

In addition, unlike dining points, Flex Account dollars do not expire at the end of a semester. You can carry them over or even apply them to tuition/fees for the next semester. Flex dollars can be used to purchase anything on campus, not just food items. They cannot be used, however, at off-campus stores or restaurants.

Thank you. I get it now!
