I am currently a junior, and I am interested in becoming a radiologist or pediatrician. However, I noticed that neither of these majors are provided at the University of Texas at Austin. How would I study for these majors and what classes would I take?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you have to go to med school for those careers. So, any pre-med major would be fine i.e. bio.

Yeah, both of those require med school.

Choose the major you like best (can even be liberal arts), but fulfill med school requirements and do research and you’ll be on the right track.

IMHO, you should not be going into medicine if you don’t know what med school is.

^^^relax…OP could be an international student where medical education is done differently…(ie…some international universities have medical degrees in just 5 years and it is just one program, not pre-med/med school track like the US) OP may just know the way it works here.

There is not a single medical school in the world in which you major in a specialty during med school. In foreign countries you go from high school to a MBBS degree and then choose a specialty. The OP is getting far too ahead of (him/her)self.

To become any type of doctor, you’ll have to make it into a medical school. Admission into these schools is typically tougher than your average undergraduate university. When you attend UT, you’ll have to earn your undergraduate degree first. To be a doctor, you can take any major, but you must supplement your schedule with these classes: http://cns.utexas.edu/images/stories/health_professions/advisingaids/PMPDPreReqsMay11.pdf
It seems like you are very unfamiliar with the process so I’d highly recommend you talk to your parents about it or maybe an adviser at your high school. There’s a ton of information you should understand before you take the plunge.

Additionally, you should be careful about what you post on the internet as everything you put up here is completely public information, being available to anyone. Unique user names are good, but yours is a little too unique haha
