confused about major

I'm going to be a freshman at Penn next year, and am seriously confused about my major (I know it's really early). So, here's the deal: I definitely want to be a doctor and hopefully attend Penn or Duke Med School (but I'll be happy at any med school)...
I have serious interests in biology, history, and South Asian studies and was considering doing a double major in the first two and a minor in the third, partly because I've heard that medical schools are starting to care a lot less for bio majors and more for liberal arts/humanities majors, but mostly b/c I have a feeling that I'm going to be studying science for the rest of my life and want college to be about something else.
The problem? I don't know how possible it is for me to have a double major and minor and still maintain a GPA that will allow me to get into a med school like Penn or Duke. I'm considering majoring in just bio (which is really my true love) and minoring in the other two, but I really think that I'd be a better applicant as someone with a double-major than a single one and I hope to have deep involvement with American history even after I have earned an MD. Any suggestions are well appreciated :)

If bio is your true love then do just bio. Since its your true love you will most likely get good grades in it since you will like it and you will have no problems getting into med school. Don't worry about impressing med school adcoms, worry about getting good grades, and to do that you must do something you like.

bigndude, thanks for responding! the problem i'm facing, though, is that though bio is my first true love, i'm starting to like history, and south asian studies quite a bit more than i ever expected...
and, reading the other threads, i've seen a lot of people suggest majoring in what you really love b/c if you don't get into med school, you will need that major to help you find a job; if med school doesn't work out, i think i'd have a leg up w/a history major or even south asian studies
also, i'll probably study bio the rest of my life (if med school does work out), so wouldn't it be better to focus on my other interests in college, while i still have a chance? maybe i should clarify that i hope to one day earn a Ph.D. in history (just after med school :))
i guess what i'm really asking is how possible it is to maintain a competitive GPA with a double major in bio and history and a minor in south asian studies

Most likely there will be history requirements that you can use to fulfill your SA studies minor requirements. So yes it is possible to maintain a ccmpetivie GPA if you do mostly crossover courses in history and SA studies.
