Confused about the admissions process

Hello,

I'm a senior in high school who's starting to apply for art and design colleges. I currently have my SAT and ACT scores, my transcript, and some filled-out applications. I'm confused, though - am I supposed to submit things one at a time, or should I make sure it all gets there at once? Will it lower my chances of being accepted if it takes a bit for everything to get to the college after my app comes in?

I don't have my rec letters, my essays, or my portfolio (art school) yet. One college I'm applying to says that portfolios aren't due for the scholarship competition until February, but it seems ridiculous to hold everything else off that long.

I'd appreciate any help with this. :]

Most schools open a file for you when they receive the first piece of info. Often you can follow the progress online once they receive your application.
