Confused about the cost of housing.

I’m trying to calculate how much money I will be spending on housing once I attend UCF, specifically, I’m looking for prices on housing. I’ve done the Net Price Calculator and indicated that I will be living on campus. I then received a price estimate of $9,764, this leaves me to wonder, is this just for 2 Semesters or 3?

At the housing rental rate webpage, (http://www.housing.ucf.edu/costs/rates) the housing rates for a private bedroom for Fall, Spring, and summer comes out to about $10,204. Furthermore, shared housing for just Fall and Spring is $5,600. Does the rental rate webpage include the cost of a meal plan?

No, it doesn’t include a meal plan. You are not required to purchase one- which has been a good thing for my D, since she says the food is terrible. There are 2 8 month plans - 7 day s a week, all access, $3,960 a year or 5 day a week (weekdays only) for $3,700.

As you have seen, go to housing and you will see costs.
They are divided by dorm.
Some dorms are for fall and spring only, some are on an 11.5 month contract only that includes summer (towers and northview). That is why they are more expensive.
There are reasons a student may pick a yearly lease over a 2 semester lease.
None of these rates include a meal plan.
Neither of my kids have felt the need to be on the meal plan, but of course there are good reasons to pick one if you choose.
The 1 bedroom/1 bath is generally reserved for resident assistants. Occasionally a few…and I mean 2 or 3…may open up, but these are given out thru a separate lottery…so don’t count on getting into one.

Have you been a accepted?
Are you looking at a specific dorm?

You can ask me more specifics if you want.

Does anyone know when the dorm rates come out? I was looking at the agreement this evening and they all say TBD.

The costs have been the same for years. Base your Decision on current info. TBD in this case means they won’t decide until well into 2019…possible not until right before fall 2019 semester starts. DO NOT WAIT FOR PRICING TO BE POSTED!

I had already signed the agreement for the dorm, but I was hoping prices would be disclosed when I signed the agreement.

You will be in the dark on this one for a long time…sorry. If you look at past years, you will see it has remained the same for a long time…if it changes for 2019-2020, I doubt it will be much. You can call housing but they wont know anything because they just haven’t decided yet.
Can I ask which dorm you chose?

I don’t think the prices were up until July this year, but the prices were the same.
