I am a transfer student going to attend UCF this Fall. I had a hard time figuring out what I was going to do for housing because of how expensive on campus housing was. At the time, I figured I would have no choice but to sign the UCF housing agreement and take out a loan to pay for it. As luck would have it though, I ended up getting an offer to share a nearby apartment for 250 a month instead of a whopping 3500 a term. The problem I'm having though, is that I signed the agreement but I have not paid the 250 dollar required prepayment. The cancellation fee is 100 dollars when cancelling before May and of course grows as time goes on. I'm wondering if I would get charged for cancelling even though I did not pay the prepayment. I really need help cause I really wish I don't have to pay the fee :(

Ok, I don’t have an answer for you, but where in the world did you find a place for $250 is what I’m wondering! I want in! And yeah, NEVER stay on campus. It’s costs wayyy too much!

Finally got someone to take over my lease. Sigh. Now I need a place to stay starting next fall. The rent is going up for the place I’m staying at My parents say they don’t mind paying and want me to live comfortably, but I know how hard they work so I feel guilty spending more than I should be! Sorry for venting, haha.

Lol, it’s no problem. It’s college, so sometimes we need to vent. I only wish there was a place that was actually 250 a month though, I’m actually going to be splitting rent with an old friend who happened to be going to UCF and needed people to split a 950 per month apartment. I only wish this offer would have come up before I signed the agreement, now I feel stupid for rushing into things and that I may need to pay 100 dollars that I didn’t need to pay Dx Darn timing!

Tell me about stupid timing! I was calling a load of people on craiglist to find someone to sublet my room. (btw, if you’re looking for someone to sublet, craiglist is the way to go.) Anyways, I finally found this girl and I was willing to sublet it to her for $400 for 3 months when it’s suppose to be $485 a month, since I know a lot of other students are also finding people to sublet and I thought this was my only chance to get someone to take over the lease. After she signed the paperwork today, anther girl emailed me back offering to pay $450 a month!! So I lost $150 just like that. Just my luck!! Arg. At least the girl was nice though! :(

If it comes down to it and all you gotta pay is $100, then just do it. A semester is like 4 months, so you’ll be paying 1k instead 3.5k, so be happy about that!

And remember to check out the apartment before you rent it! $250 sounds a bit fishy…
