I am planning on applying to WashU and very confused.
On the college verification supplement sheet it allows you to rank the schools you want to apply to in the order you want
(Olin/CAS/etc)
-Is Olin harder to get into than CAS?
-If you don't get into one school can you get into another?
-Does it make sense ranking all schools for potential majors rather than just Olin or cas?

The reason they have you rank the schools is so that they don’t accept a lot of students into one school and hardly any into another. It will not be harder or easier to gain admission depending on how you rank the schools. I suppose there’s a possibility that they might not accept you into the school of your choice and accept you into another, but I doubt it. I’m not quite sure what you’re asking in your third point, however.

As for the third point, I think you only need to rank the ones you’re actually considering

just to confirm, yes, you only need to rank the ones you’re actually considering. that said, you should probably still rank at least 2 schools (i did engineering and artsci with engineering as my first choice). it’s not harder or easier to get into one school than another, but there’s always the chance that they might not have room in your first choice. you can switch later if you want.

I doubt it matters. Class of 2016 engineering size is 30% larger than every other year. (usual of 270ish, this year around 340).
