Greetings,

I am confused between the best major and minor and master degrees.

At first i am a high school student and thats my last year in my high school and i wanna be a successful investment banker and work in the investment banking field in future.

my choices in the undergraduate education + graduate education are :

major : economics - business adminstration

minor : business adminstration or economics - accounting - psychology - politics - ..etc

master degrees : ms in economics - mba

i will join a good undergraduate university but from the top 100 its the american university in cairo but i will get my graduate degree from one of the top 20 universities like harvard - stanford - yale - princeton - MIT - wharton -........etc

but there are 2 combination that am confused between:

1- economics major - another minor + ms in economics and after that an mba

or 2- business major - economics minor + mba

i got confused i need help in choosing the best choice to be a successful investment banker

waiting for your replies

Definitely go #2 but I seriously doubt you will find a job in investment banking (in the US) coming from the American University in Cairo. Generally, the only schools the major ibanks recruit from are ivies + MIT, Stanford, Duke, etc. Also, be careful when you say “i will get my graduate degree from one of the top 20 universities like harvard - stanford- yale - princeton - MIT - wharton, etc.” I don’t think you understand how hard it is to get into those schools and how many talented Ivy League students in the US you will be competing with to get those spots.

–Also another note is that none of the schools you listed offer masters degrees in economics. They are very uncommon in the US and are considered useless by most.

Thanks for answering me , I think that i can enter one of the top 20 universities cause the teachers told me that i am smart and intelligent but i am not conceited so if i gonna join the best university in Egypt not in ranking but in accreditation by the top employers and companies like hsbc , Barclays , Citibank ,etc and is accredited by many universities as Wharton and other universities and there are some exchange programs between the as american university in Cairo and many famous american and british universities.

Also many egyptian people who traveled to the Usa had joined the top universities because our educational books in schools are full of difficult questions, our books are more difficult than the sat and american books by many times so when we join any university our knowledge in any interview will amaze anyone but for sure not all the egyptians are like dis , some are smart and some aren’t clever and are stupid.

So i think i will get the bachelor degree from the american universities in Cairo and then work for 2-3 years in an international corporation and then enter the Gmat test and try to get the mba from one of the top 20 business schools in the Usa maybe they will accept me but my question is:

Is it better to get a business administration bachelor degree from the american university in Cairo + mba from one of the top 20 universities in the Usa
or

get an economics bachelor degree from the american university in Cairo + mba from one of the top 20 universities in the Usa?

thanks for your reply and waiting for other replies
