Confused high school student on pre-med

Hey, I'm a high school student looking to go into medical school in the future. But I'm somewhat confused at he pre-med prereqs :S

From what I understand, pre-med is basically a required group of courses you need to take in order to apply into medical school. But the question is, what degree, if any, do you get after you graduate as an undergraduate?

Also, can you take other courses like biomedical engineering and still apply for medical school with only the courses in this major? Or do you have to take the pre-med course and do this other one as a double major?

Hope this helps.

This may help as well

At the vast majority of colleges, doing General Biology I and II, General Physics I and II, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, English I and II, and Biochemistry (will cover you for at least half of all medical schools) will not get you a degree. You will also need to major in a traditional major, such as biology, computer science, English, mathematics, biomedical engineering, etc. Your premed courses can count towards your major, but by themselves they won’t make up a reputable major at any college.

Thanks for the reply!
