i have been hearing alot about some fancy pre med majors, is biology good, or would you recommend something else?

Pre-med at the vast majority of universities is not a major. Pre-med is just a set of courses that you need to take before entering medical school. You can, and should, major in something that you are interested in, not something you think medical schools expect you do major in.

I'm either majoring in biochem or physics, not sure yet.

hey wonkygirl12162, i'm interested in majoring in medical as well. I was thinking Sports Medicine/Athletic Training and Dermatology. I'm thinking about double majoring. i'm not sure yet tho..and i'm running outta time cuz i'm a senior in high school!!

physics will kill your GPA and thats not good for med school

I've always thought that I was going to double major in Psych and biology or biochem, but now I'm wondering if majoring in BME is reasonable for med school in case I don't make it. What are your thoughts?

This might seem like a dumb question to ask, but although I'd like to be a surgeon someday, I honestly have no idea about majors (as in: I have no idea how they work). When I get to college, don't I just take premed, and that's it....I mean, do I have to choose a specific area right away?

Please somebody enlighten me.

For undergraduate, just major in what you want and make sure that you take the premed courses that are required by all Medical Schools for admission. You don't have to worry about what type of doctor you want to be (right now anyway). That will all get decided in medical school, so you have plenty of time to think about it.

i'm majoring in economics cuz i hate science

That's good cuz med school won't have any science...

no, it's not that i can't do science. i mean, i am quite apt in science/math, i just don't like it. i've always got an A in science and I got a 5 on AP Chem and AP Physics, it's just that i hate it. so i would never major in it. it just doesn't interest me.

I hope you're not going to med school...
