Well Maddie first of all I think your scores grades and ECs are VERY good – not Ivy League good, but very good for many of the schools you should be shooting for. I think your financial situation IS very relevant. I seriously don’t think you should try to go someplace that will cause you to take more loans than what is standard for a freshman. There is no school that will be worth doing that for. (BTW I have a relative who had extremely good stats, applied to mostly Ivies and reaches. Got denied at the Ivies, found the reaches unaffordable, but got a full scholarship to UB and is now attending there in the honors college. So far is having a GREAT college experience).
You CAN go to a pricey school if they meet full need, some of the ones who claim to do so are: Boston College, College of the Holy Cross (MA), Franklin & Marshall (PA), Kenyon College (OH), Union College (NY) and University of Richmond (VA). There are others but I just picked a selection that seem decently close to where you are.
Are you looking for a larger school or smaller? What might you major in? How far are you comfortable being away from home? I think with your stats you should apply to some places that will definitely give you some scholarship money.
Also if it were me, I’d drop Cornell for a different reach. You have to jump through a lot of hoops for those types of applications, I’d pick one where you have more of a shot. (Boston College and Kenyon above actually seem to fit the bill better, you may or may not get in those)
How about Fordham or LeMoyne? Marist or Manhattan? Nazareth or Siena?
University of Rochester? SUNY Geneseo?
For what it’s worth Lehigh University in Pennsylvania has a very good business school, and they met full need when I went there. At the time my parents couldn’t afford to pay anything, other than driving me there, and they didn’t have to pay anything toward my edudcation. I had the standard loan, plus a work/study job on campus.
