<p>Hi Guys! I really do want to go to India for medicine but im so confused as where I should go and even if I should:/
I know for sure that i want to go but im confused as to where...many people have been saying manipal. Anyone here go to Manipal?</p>
<p>Hey a friend of mine goes to Manipal University to medicine and she’s also a NRI. She said it’s probably one of the best decisions she made considering the school is really good. However, only consider Medicine here if you’re really willing to work hard because it’s REALLY competitive.</p>

Yeh she fit right in! She said the people were very open and fun generally. She really hasn’t come across any problems besides and she loves atmosphere there. She said it’s pretty different from Chicago (where we’re from) but its an experience she wouldn’t ever want to miss out on. :)</p>
<p>If you score really really well and are in the top of your class, you can get into a 7 year guaranteed program (medical) in the US (virginia commonwealth,ucsd,northwestern etc). Even if you get your medical from India, you have to take the board exams and residency here again. Having said that, I know 1 person from our HS who is chposing to go to manipal medical (dont know her personally, just heard).</p>
<p>Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal is one of the best in India. IMHO, Udupi/Manipal region is fantastic. </p>

<p>I believe its an online test, and its super competitive. Check on their website for more, and you still have quite a lot of time.</p>
<p>Yeah NRI’s don’t have to worry about that Admissions Test. All they look at is your grades from HS. I may be going to Manipal (MBBS) on August 2012 as an NRI from Virginia. If there’s any other North American’s joining KMC in like a month for MBBS please pm me. Would like to get to know the others who are coming from a similar background as mine. Thanks!</p>
<p>Do consider to go back to premed threads and home discussions because if you do foreign studies in medicine then you will the last bunch considered for residencies. With the current funding issues and super competitive placement in the US for residencies, you might as well be wasting some years rather than saving them. It’s no easy feat to get into med school here but at the least you won’t be looked down upon if you come from outside.</p>
