confused

i want to be a chemical engineering major but when im working on my app it says chemical/biosomething engineering. Is it a combined major or is it two different majors?

The department is called Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, but it offers two different majors: Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering.

They call the single major Chemical and Biomecular Engineering and you get a BS in Chemical Engineering (and it should not be confused with bioengineering which is an entirely different major). You can go to these pages for more information on the program:

ahh im still confused... the 2nd link says mostly chemical eng cept at the top. I thought biomolecular engineering was the major where they only allow not that many people like only around 30 with average of 1450-1600 sat.

Bioengineering is the major, recently created, that has very limited admissions and, as I mentioned above, is different from Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, which is the single major that you would think of as Chemical Engineering. That second link is it and describes the course requirements for the major; there is no separate or distinguishable biomecular engineering major. Frankly, a number of universities in the last few years have been adding the word biomolecular, like UIUC did, to their chemical engineering major. (For example, see also Penn State.)

ok i get it now thanks
