Confusion!Confusion!Which Fasfa to fill?

I am currently a high school student, and will be going to college after summer of 2005. The problem is that I need to fill the fasfa online, and it has two different versions.

They are :
2005-2006 School Year (July 1st, 2005 - June 30th, 2006)
Due date: Jan 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006

2004-2005 School Year (July 1st, 2004 - June 30th, 2005)
Due date: Jan 1, 2004 - June 30, 2005

Which one should I fill based on the information I have given?

Please help me, since one of my deadline is on 2/1/05.

or make my question easier:

Which year of fafsa do you guys fill out right now?

for school year 2005- 2006 fill out the FAFSA for 2005-2006
HOWEVER what may be confusing is that you use tax records from 2004.

I have already filled out the one for 04/05 version and ready to submit it online, then I thought I would need to double check it. So I found out that there is also a 05/06version. That's why I am so confused.

No, I don't have my 2004 return now, so i used the 2003 one, I guess I have to start it over again for the 05/06 one.

Also, are you absolutely positively about the 05/06 one? Thanks for ur help.

you definitely fill out 2005/2006 fafsa with finanial info from 2004 (the fafsa year is the school year you will be receiving aid for)

You fill out the FAFSA for the year in which you want to be considered for finaid. For folks filling it out for the next school year, that would be the 2005-06 form. 2005-06 is the school year beginning in Sept. 2005 and ending spring 2006. If that is WHEN you want finaid, that is the form you fill out.

The posters are absolutely right. And you need 2004 information but since you are not likely to have it, you use 2003, tweaking it where you know things are different. You revise it when your family does the 2004 return. This is what everyone has to do the first year. It'll be easier in subsequent years because the danged thing won't be due until tax due date usually.
