Confusion with "Parent 2" information on Common App

<p>My parents are divorced, and I live with my dad, who I listed as "Parent 1" on Common App and filled out all of the information for.</p>

<p>My mother is not legally/financially responsible for me at all and we don't speak, and so I do not know the information that Common App wants me to report about her, such as her occupation, the schools she attended, the degrees she's received, etc. </p>

<p>Is there an option on Common App that allows me to not have to report all of this information about her? I don't want to give inaccurate information by claiming that she's unemployed or hasn't received any degrees, but I also do not want to reach out to her because I don't want her getting involved in my college application process.</p>

<p>Selecting “Unknown” for Parent 2 will allow you to proceed without entering any further information. If you select this option but still feel the need to provide more details about your family situation, you can always use Additional Information.</p>
