My youngest is due home any minute from her last day of high school. Prom is tomorrow and graduation in 10 days. So while I wait for her to get home, I wanted to wish congratulations to all of the parents of graduating seniors! We did it! We got them through the K-12 years. Except for tuition and other miscellaneous expenses - the rest is up to them!

Wishing you all a wonderful graduation season, an easy transition to college for both parent and child and many years of health and happiness!!!!

Congratulations to you!! Zoosergirl finished classes on Wednesday and is getting ready to graduate. I just can't believe it. Big pat on the back to us. Now if I could only stop crying all the time . . .

I'm feeling the happy-wiggles myself. My youngest is also finishing his last day of high school today. Prom is tonight with graduation a week from Saturday. It's been a far wilder ride than I would have thought, and I'm so happy for everyone.

WELL DONE to all seniors and their supporting casts! :) Group hug!

Ehh..SpringfieldGirl is finishing up her last term paper...her finals aren't until the week of the 28th and graduation is June 6th. But it's definately the home stretch!

Still a ways to go here. Graduation not till the 14th. With block scheduling my son didn't even start two of his required grad courses till April. Only my son would leave two required classes(econ and govt) till the last quarter of senior year! Pulling my hair out. Senioritis in not allowed in our house.

Prom is tonight, but my daughter will have a week and a half of school after that, with graduation on June 7.

However, almost all of the serious academic work is over (except for two more projects and one makeup AP test on the 25th). I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Four years at a rigorous magnet program located at a school in a distant part of the county turned out to be more challenging than anyone expected. I am not sorry that it is almost over.

Academic work is over - no finals - senior week activities are next week; prom the week after Memorial Day; graduation June 3. And next week is tech week for her dance concerts, with performances Memorial Day weekend (so she has to miss some senior week activities for rehearsals).

I still don't believe it's almost over. Where did it go?

And yes, let's raise a glass to US - we've worked ourselves out of a job (at least as far as the senior is concerned)! On to the new phase.

We have a ways to go...prom is May 31, graduation not til June 22nd! Ah the joy of living in New York state...graduation is after the Regents exams...

Forgot to add (senior moment here..me, not her!)........
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!!!

Wow, Can't believe so many finish so early. Last day of exams here is June 9 with graduation June 11. Prom was last Saturday. My S is a rising senior. One more year to go...sigh

Heh heh. WashSlim -- the new official CC nickname for Son #2 -- doesn't get out of school until late June. To add insult to injury, they added two extra school days AFTER finals are over to make up for snow days. To really pile it on, WashDadJr has already done three AP exams, which means his three toughest classes are pretty much done for the year, and two of his remaining three are fun classes (mandatory PE and his Engineering IV class). So, WashSlim is sweating his last month of school and WDJr graduates June 11.

One through high school, and one through junior high. Only three more years until they are both legal. Woo-hoo!

Congrats, but . . . I wouldn't assume that just because they head off to college all they'll need from you is financial support. Transitioning to autonomy is a process - not like flipping on a switch. And you might find that some of your most productive parenting is still ahead of you. So keep that checkbook handy, but don't remodel their room into a home office just yet!

Gadad, (by the way, is that the Southern equivalent of "WashDad"?) good one! The best conversation I've had with WashDadJr this month went like this, "Your allowance on June 1 is the last one you are ever getting from me. You can get a job this summer to earn the pocket money you will need next year. We'll pick up the tab for educational expenses and the dorms, but other than that you are on your own." He stared at me like I was a catfish that had just started talking. I loved it. And I meant it.

We'll be converting his room into an office, but we will move his stuff into the downstairs bedroom. Just in case. :)

I don't disapprove, but why so little advance notice? Many of the best sources of summer jobs, especially day camps and swimming facilities, do most of their hiring in the winter and early spring. If WashDadJr had known back at Christmastime that he would need to earn money this summer for his own expenses, he could have tried for those jobs. At this point, his choices are much more limited.

Wow, we are so LATE around here. Son's h.s. graduation is on June 26. Daughter is finishing up papers now in order to graduate college on May 28.
I envy you guys! For a change, I just want to look at their faces and NOT see academic pressure written all over them. Kick back and laugh a little. Ah well, soon...

Classes ended last week, prom was 2 weeks ago. Senior Goodbye assembly was today, D cried through the last part of that. Graduation is Wednesday. Seems like yesterday she was just starting high school, the last four years have just flown by.

S spent sr. yr. in China. Comes home in a week. Then it's a rush of prom, graduation, reconnect with HS friends, summer job and time for us. Then, way too soon, it's off to college! Congrats to you all - headliners and support staff!

Ds finished AP tests and final projects. Last day of school/exams is next Thursday, and Graduation is Friday. Kind of tight schedule due to making up "bad weather" days  It means that the val won't know she/he is giving the speech until Thursday night! But -Yeah - we've done it, and done it good! The kids are graduating! :)

Congratulations to everyone! Special congratulations to those parents who sheparded students with special challenges, of which there are many. I'm particularly proud of D who graduated in top ten, NMF, having faced obstacles such as ADHD, LD, speech and handwriting defects, many medical conditions including hospitalization for ulcerative colitis, and three (little) miscellaneous surgeries senior year. I know there are lots of successful kids who achieved despite such issues, some life threatening, who had to sacrifice some activities and miss school and still shine. Congratulations to them and their supportive parents and may success in college follow!
