Conn Accepted Student Stats

Hey everyone.
I'm a junior and I'm extremely interested in Conn (absolutely loved it when I visited!) I was wondering if those of you who were accepted this year could post your stats so I could just see what kind of chances I have in applying to the school. Thanks!

Hey!

I just read your thread. I got accepted at Connecticut this year, and will probably attend. As I can see, you are an international student, like me. I'm from Romania.
I'm not sure what you would be interested in knowing... On the SATs, I had 710 Math, 720 Reading and 690 Writing (essay of 8). On the SAT II, I hd 800 German, 650 Math 1 C and 620 French. I went on a summer school at Oxford and an exchange program in the US for one semester. I also had a lot of prizes from all kinds of contests and stuff. What else would you be interested in?

I'm an international student too, from Singapore. And I'll be attending only next fall... coz of my military service obligation back home.

Stats... I had 790 Math, 740 Verbal, and a 660 for writing (!). On the SAT 2s I had 800 for Math IC, Math IIC, Physics and Chemistry (and i'm no genius... just another product of the Singapore's rigid, rigorous, but nonetheless effective education system). Grades wise were almost perfect (if not for a pseudo subject called General Paper), but that's coz I took the British O and A Levels in which only the final examinations count... so those Bs, Cs, and even Ds that I got in internal school examinations don't count :)

Extraccuriculars wise I didn't really have anything outstanding... I had winning stamp exhibits at national level but that doesn't really sound very impressive. Got a bunch of other CCAs but didn't really win many honors in them. Then again it's all about marketing yourself... put some thought into your resume and make sure you present everything you did in the most positive light... (without lying, of course)

im a recent alum of conn. they typically accept around 30% of applicants. i would say that for a "match" you should have around 700 for each SAT section and at least a 3.7 gpa. conn absolutely LOVES diversity (including internationals), people who are actively involved in community service, and people that dont have a cookie cutter application.

Thanks! My first SAT scores will be revealed to me on May 31st ... I anticipate that my cr/w scores will be above 700, but that math will be below, hopefully they will even each other out.

My school does not weight or calculate actual GPA. (we're on a 1-7 IB scale) but my guess would be that my GPA would be somewhere in between 3.5-3.6 including my horrible freshman year, and about 3.8-3.9 not including it.

Do you any of you current/past students mind if I PM you to ask a few questions about student life / academics?

I got into Conn but will not be attending.

SATS(took twice, highest of each):
V:630
M:580
CW:690

ACTS(took twice)
highest was 26

GPA(school doesn't calculate)
but about 3.5 (small, prestigious private school)

As you can see, these STATS aren't stellar, but I had a lot of EC's and I want to go into creative writing so I sent in a creative writing portfolio. I also had a really good essay and good rec's.

There are a lot of people on these threads who are like robot-children(meaning they have the PERFECT stats.) I was worried about getting into schools, but I ended up getting into 8 out of my 11 (and none of the schools I got into are crappy.) So, take all of these STATS with a grain of salt. Good luck!

jnesse- i welcome conn questions anytime.
