Connecting Bath

I just received my housing assignment, I opted for connecting bath and got it..Is it worth the extra $200 (in Jester)?

I had connecting bath and I think its worth it. I prefer it over community bath. Only downside is have to clean it yourself and you have to bring own toilet paper and hand soap, but I still liked have own bathroom being right there. And I never had a problem sharing it with three other people considering showers and everything, but that’s specific and can change for anyone.

Can you buy toilet paper and hand soap from a store inside Jester?

Personally, I prefer community bath because I don’t have to deal with cleaning it. Of course, you do have to get used to sharing a bathroom with a lot of people, but it’s not a big deal after about a week.

ezra11, most convenience-type stores on campus carry those items. You’d money though if you and your suitemates made monthly trips or so to HEB.

You can buy toilet paper and hand soap on the first floor in the market. It’s really what you prefer though. If you don’t mind cleaning your bathroom then I would say get the connecting because it’s great to have right there whenever you need it and don’t have to walk down the hall after a shower or anything. But I know some people who didn’t mind the community bath so its just my opinion. And I really liked my suitemates so it was cool.

I got a connecting bathroom in JWest First Floor

Does anyone know if that’s a renovated room?

My understanding is that only jester east is renovated but that might not be true anymore.

Yeah, only Jester East is being renovated, as far as I know.

How do I know if I have Jester East or West?

W#### = West
M#### = East

theyre in process of renovating west now

oh okay, I’ve got East then

How many showers/toilets/sinks are there in a connecting bath? Just one for all 4 people to share? And how is the room size & location for those in Jester that have connecting baths? Are they bigger than the normal Jester rooms? And are they usually located toward the end of the hallways?

I think there are two sinks? One shower and one toilet. The rooms are slightly smaller than the rooms that share a community bathroom.

There are two sinks, one shower, one toilet in connecting baths

The bedrooms in connecting baths are a bit bigger than the community shower bedrooms.
The connecting bath bedrooms are 14’-6 x 15’-8
The community shower bedrooms are 12’-10 x 15’-10

Those dimensions are correct, but if you look at the room diagram, the bathroom sticks into the room. So, the actual living space is smaller for rooms with connecting bathrooms.

If I submitted a waitlist form to switch dorms from jester community bath to private bath. What would be my chances of getting private bath? And, how soon of possible?

Are the Jester West 1st floor rooms nice? Which ones are being renovated exactly in Jester west?

I don’t think the first floor is being renovated. I have two friends who lived on that floor last year, and will live there again this coming year. The rooms that share a community bathroom are pretty standard. The rooms with connecting bathrooms are kind of oddly laid out… the beds are perpendicular to each other, against perpendicular walls.

hey! i’m on jester west first floor with a connecting bathroom too :)
