Cons of taking online courses?

There's three of us at my home. Two of us will be starting school soon. There's only one car between the three of us. There are 3 campuses, one's 5 minutes away, one's 30 minutes away, and the other's over an hour away.

Since it's late in the registration period some classes are filled up so there aren't too too many available courses left in the nearest campus (since it's the smallest). I have two courses at the nearest campus. And I was thinking about taking two courses online so that it doesn't conflict with my brother or my mom's schedule. My brother will also be taking a couple of courses online.

My question- Is there any disadvantage to taking courses online.? When I graduate, will employers look down on courses taken online.?

The only major con I can think of is that some schools do not accept online courses as transfer credit. Though if the college you wish to attend does, then it shouldn’t really matter. Also, I don’t think employers will frown upon online classes. Might want a second opinion though.

My school has a transfer agreement with a few of the schools I’ll be applying to, so I wonder if that answers my question.

No. Why would an employer look down on a class you took online at an accredited institution? Why would they even really care if you graduate at a different school? Don’t worry about people’s perceptions of your coursework unless you’re going to some university like DeVry or University of Phoenix. Your community college work will most likely not be brought up into any employer conversation or the fact that you were a transfer student. My friend who is at UC Berkeley now took an online course with me for Macroeconomics at a CC. It’s not going to affect his future.

Anyways, you should have nothing to worry about if there’s a transfer agreement. Well, other than what you might learn and the difficulty of it. I didn’t learn anything in the class I took and passed with an A. My friend learned a lot though because he wanted to learn. I know some classes like English can suck online (I never did, just what I’ve heard), though. I’d recommend using RateMyProfessors.

Haha okay. I thought employers took a thorough look at transcripts, and I figured they looked down on courses taken online. I already knew about them not being a fan of taking classes at for profit schools though.

And the courses I’m taking online are intro to business and business calc. I wouldn’t expect the business calc class to be a difficult online class especially since I’ll have a book right there with me. And a friend just reminded me of ratemyprofessors this morning. Turns out all of the classes I’ve registered for had ‘good’ professors so I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks again man.
