Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if there were any consequences for someone who will be receiving financial aid if they were to obtain an MIP. I know that if someone gets a drug conviction, they can never receive financial aid and I was hypothetically (actually, though) wondering if there were any similar consequences for a student if they are reveiving financial aid and are charged with an MIP.

Thanks

Are you 18? If not it can be sealed and no one will know about it and you don’t have to report it.

FAFSA doed not ask anything about MIPs , only about drug convictions. So it should have no affect on financial aid.

yeah… i am over 18.

However shallow it is, I’m literally just wondering to know how hard I have to try to avoid the police in my town (who are ACTUALLY out just to get teens since there is ACTUALLY no crime on my island (no crimes on island usually)).

Thanks

sweet, thanks you swimcat.

This should lower my mothers stress level as well…

Please don’t judge by this post haha, I’m just one of few teens who are open about what we actually do…

I thought this was only if you were currently receiving financial aid? My bf has a drug conviction against him (and he was not under 18), but was able to receive the Pell Grant and all that because he was not receiving financial aid when he was charged.

You are right - the FAFSA question does ask about drug convictions for offenses after the age of 18 (unless tried as an adult) while receiving financial aid. There also seem to be some options for regaining eligibility by doing acceptable drug rehab programs.

Better to just avoid the problem.
