Conservatory Summer Institute 2018?

Looking for some info about this program? My daughter didn’t get into the Overature Program that she really wanted but I wanted to see if anyone had participated before? Thoughts?

I know young people who have participated before and really enjoyed it. You should be aware it is not taught by same faculty as Overtures. It is taught by conservatory faculty and does have a MT component (although I don’t know all the details for this).

A little late, but for posterity–I attended CSI summer of 2018. It was a fantastic experience: I made lots of friends, fell in love with BW’s campus, and got more of a feel for what majoring in performance would be like in college. For me, it helped me feel assured that majoring in performance was the right choice. Within the program, there are different “concentrations”, including Musical Theatre. There were about twenty kids in the MT component, and it was basically a series of workshops followed by a showcase. However, it was not led by actual MT faculty. It was actually a bit upsetting, since Overtures was happening the same week, and most of the people in the MT track were “Overtures rejects”. In addition, due to the time constraints (each “class” was only about an hour and a half long, and I think there were four or five in total) and the fact the showcase was shared with Jazz Band, it was a series of 32-bar cuts instead of full songs. While CSI was a fantastic experience and the highlight of my summer, if you’re looking for in-depth work on MT specifically, I’d look elsewhere.
