BW Overtures

I was wondering if anyone has attended the summer program at BW? Does anyone have any insight on the program? Is it very helpful in preparing for college auditions? What makes the BW summer program unique?

Thanks,
E.J.

Hello, EJ! Although I wish I had attended this, I could not because of the plans I had already had for the summer. My good friend participated in the program and said it was an excellent learning experience. I auditioned yesterday for the program and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. I adore B-W’s program. The summer program prepared my friend for college auditions very well and it is also a great experience because you work closely with Vicky Bussert and Scott Plate. I really hope you audition for it! I regret not auditioning. I would definitely take advantage of this!! (:

My daughter went a couple of summers ago and it was fantastic. She loved working with Vickey and Scott. Great program!

Thank you so much for the insight on the program! I got in! And, I am almost positive that I am going to go! I am very excited! Thanks again!

My son also applied for the MT overtures summer program. We still have not heard anything and must make some decisions on other programs soon. May i ask when you found out you were accepted and did it come by mail or through email? Thank you and congratulations on your acceptance! That is very exciting!

Our acceptance was e-mailed on Monday.

Thank you for your reply. I can assume he is either on a waiting list or not accepted. We are new to all of this. Does anyone have advice on the ettiquette surrounding calling the school to find out?

I believe students that were accepted have until the end of the day on April 25 to confirm their acceptance. After that, and depending on your timetable for getting back to other programs, you might contact the Conservatory office to see if other information is available.

Good news! My son was waitlisted and then he just got an email on Tuesday notifying him of a cancellation and he was offered the spot. YAY! He is very excited and I am thrilled for him!

Congrats to your son rosesarered. It is always so exciting to hear about successes on cc. I hope he will have a fantastic experience. My D did not attend this one, she did NYU Tisch -Cap21 the final year it was offered and had an AMAZING time. She has made lasting friendships in addition to preparing for auditions. 2 of her ‘classmates’ from that summer are now at UC Irvine with her as well. All of the students in the program got multiple offers from very strong MT programs and are scattered across the country but still stay in touch. I hope your son has a similar experience at BW… I personally loved BW and wished my D would have been accepted there, Victoria Bussert is wonderful.

Best of luck!
