In looking back at my last post, I don’t mean to sound as if education is not important. My daughter is currently in the pool as a transfer trying to get into a program and I am so excited for her. I think that a college education not only gives you a solid background in your chosen field, but more importantly gives you confidence, teaches you how to cope with everyday situations, and gives you the tools to deal with life. I am just saying that I don’t think a BFA is an advantage over a BA or vice versa. I think each person should evaluate what they want out of their college years and go that direction. If all out training in voice, dance and acting is what you want then a BFA is probably the way to go. If you would rather have a great background in those areas along with a more traditional education, then go for the BA. Just don’t base your decision on what others say you must have to succeed in this industry. Once you get out there it is all about how you present yourself at each audition and about being in the right place at the right time.
