Consideration of Financial Aid Need During Admissions in Non-Elite Universities

Hi,

On sites of top colleges like MIT and Harvard it's emphasized that they don't care about money when deciding who to admit, which led me to presume that other colleges, that don't have tons of money already, do look whether applicant seeks financial aid. So, do they somehow prioritize students that do not request financial support? If yes, how much?

Thanks.

Yes, there are schools that are need-blinded and others are not.

Most colleges are not very transparent on how financial need impacts admission but the amount of prioritization will vary by college. For instance Reed stated a few years ago they are need-blind until the last few students are selected. Then they prioritize to essentially stay in budget.
