Considering FIT, would appreciate insider perspective.

Hi guys, I'm an international student considering applying to FIT and I'd love to hear from any current/former Panthers.

If I get in, I'm planning on majoring in astrophysics or possibly a physics+astrophysics dual major. I know FIT has a great aeronautical engineering program, but how is it with the pure sciences? It's hard to get a feel of a school's reputation from the other side of the world, so I'd really appreciate any input.

Also, what is the campus life like? Having a Crew and a Soccer team are two big pluses in my books so at the very least there's that, but I've seen a lot of posts on places like /r/fit complaining about things like the gender ratio and a general lack of things to do. Also, it seems to me that int students have a bit of a bad rep for being reclusive/overly conservative. That worries me for two reasons: a). Nobody wants to have a negative stereotype attached to them and b). I come from a very liberal and "westernized" background, so if Florida residents feel out of place, I'm pretty sure I'll feel a bit out of place as well.

Finally, my chances of getting in... Am I right in considering FIT to be a 'safety'?
SATs: 1940 (CR: 640, M:650, W: 650). Retaking and expecting 2100+ based on practice tests.
SAT II: Physics: 800. Taking M2 and chem next month, expecting 700+ based on practice tests.
Good ECs (VC of HS crew, school prefect, etc).

I'm quite confident of getting in, but are my scores enough to get me the full 18k merit aid on offer to undergrads? My current SATs put me in the top 25% and if I get my expected cores, I'll be even better off. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

If you’re an international student, you’ll fit right in.
