Be sure to take finances into account when considering a transfer. Merit aid is harder to come by.
As a suggestion for a school to research, look into Skidmore.
I currently go to Connecticut College and I love it! They meet 100% of aid, and give lots of merit aid. Additionally I think it fits your stats. We have 20 or so transfer kids a semester I believe, and there are 2,000 students on campus. Also, classes are small, we get to know our professors personally, etc. My biggest class is around 30 kids, but my smallest has 14. The only “lecture” classes we have is gen chem and organic chem, so all the other classes are personal. The campus is smaller, it takes 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other. Also, there isn’t a huge party culture here, and students are fairly academically driven. Also, I don’t find it to be super competitive. Also, there are only a few requirements for classes, and it makes double majoring or one major and 2 minors really simple to do. If you have any questions feel free to message me, I love talking about Conn!
I too would recommend applying to the Honors College. Even if you decide to transfer, it will help your application. Honors classes are small; I think the largest DD had was 28 or 30. She takes honors sections for every class she can, including her engineering classes. 53% of freshmen students were in the top 10% of their HS classes, so the academic focused are there; you may not be in the same circles at the moment. It does sound like an LAC with an open first 2 year curriculum would be a good fit for you, since it would allow you time to explore various majors before committing. Are you by any chance in Bridge, or living with Bridge students?
While others can help guide you on the other schools of interest, I can offer ideas to make the time you’re here a little more enjoyable. What have you been doing outside of class? Have you looked into clubs like Theatre, Film, Clemson Dancers or Dance Company, Tiger Live Entertainment, Fine Arts, hiking or waterfall clubs, or any of the outreach service clubs, if for nothing else than to boost your transfer application. I think film club is working on several short film projects and planning a 3 day film festival in the Spring.
