sticky this thread please

How hard are essays for bio and en sci?

for barron’s, the curve is 80% for en sci lol

that’s pretty harsh…

what’s the curve for comp. gov?

“World - 78/108 (5), 62 (4), 43 (3), 27 (2) | 72.22%”

Someone may have pointed this out already, but the scores go to 120 for World History. With this in mind, is this raw score of 78 for a 5 still accurate?

Microeconomics calculator has been added to [AP Pass - AP Microeconomics Calculator](AP Micro-economics Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)

@I3auer, when I found the formula for world history last year, I got this curve:
1…0-27
2…27-43
3…43-62
4…62-78
5…78-120

(someone please correct me if this curve is unrealistic)

so for that particular weighting, it should be accurate. (there is a calculator for this one too at [AP Pass - AP World Calculator](AP World History Test Score Calculator - AP Pass) ) But as always, the scoring changes every year, so a if your raw score is a 78, there is no guarantee that you’ll get a 5 with however they grade it this year; aim for higher than that

The curve for the economics are way too brutal. The tests must be easy.

AP Biology Calculator is here! (same site) the curve I found was extremely lenient, but maybe the Bio test is really that hard? can someone confirm?

^AP Biology covers a lot of material, and the questions on the exam can sometimes get tricky/really specific, so I guess that’s why it has a fairly generous curve.

alright, I guess the curve is legitimate then. Do any of you have formulas for any other AP courses?

Well, everyone says it’s legitimate, but it seems WAY too lenient to be true. With those scores, a good guesser could just guess his way through the multiple choice and BS some parts of the essays correctly and pass.

Actually no…those curves include your errors…

^^exactly. tsenchar.

I can definitely affirm the Calc BC at around 60%, as that’s what my Calc teacher (teaching for 37 years and averages a 4.8ish, I think) said you need raw for a 5 on the exam.
That curve for Bio also seems to make sense. The exam is pretty easy, but I could see a lot of classes simply not covering the material necessary for it.
Anyway, I’m curious if anyone thinks there might be a Multivariable exam any time soon? Probably not within the next two years, but eventually?

^no. i wish though.
however, ap exams are “introductory college courses”

multivar is considered a 2nd year math course.

Is AP chem really 67% for a 5?

Not sure if it is too relevant, but if I get a raw score of 45 or so on the MC portion of the exam, how likely is it that I will get a 5 on the actual exam? I took the 2008 Practice Exam (the one you can find using Google).

why AP econs have such a harsh curve? Other subjects have a way easier and nice curve. Only econs have a extremely narrow range for 5: 70-90

What’s latin?

I continue to be reassured by these curves. I wonder how this year’s exams will compare.
