Courtney did an amazing job on mine, she pointed out unclear sentences and such, and brought to my attention certain details I missed. Thanks courtney!

hello!
is there anyone willing to read mine?

Add me to this list

If you have received any correction from CC reviewers, could you recommend some critics I can trust? Thanks!

Aw, thanks for all the compliments, guys I feel so honored to get to see so many essays every day!

Also, apparently there is at least one person who believes that I am asking you guys to post complimentary things in order to “selfishly promote my own brand.” To those of you who give a shout out in the future- make sure to say that I’m not forcing you to say anything! (Silly I should even have to ask that…)

Lol. That is ridiculous. Even if you were asking people to do that, there’s nothing wrong with it, because nobody is going to post a positive review of someone who wasn’t helpful. Brand? Lmao. Voluntarily reviewing essays on a public forum for-profit venture as far as I can tell.

Btw, I sent you mine, did you get my email?

yes yes yes! I’m working through about 10 a day, and with school and ECs, I’m a bit slow. You should have it before the end of the night :)

id read any essay pm me!

Whartongrad is obviously not a Wharton Grad. All he/she ever does is ask to read essays. And with such a low post count in which each post does just that, I advice you guys to be on FAKE ALERT!

** Watch out for courtneyenpointe. She is still in high school, and is in this year’s applicant pool. She may not be out to get people. But i would be careful about sending someone in the same applicant pool as me my essay. I only send it to people with over 500 posts that are in college. Also, if her post history is checked, a lot of them are asking to read other essays. Just a warning **

^Yes that is true. Even I thought so, but she has already applied SCEA to Stanford. So I guess if one wants to get their essay checked by her they could do so feeling comparitively safe.
However, I too would prefer to not have my essay checked by a '15’er. I don’t think the advice of someone applying at the same time as me would be as generous.

Can somebody please help me out on my personal statement essay for UC applications? I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks! PM me or reply to this and i’ll forward you the essay. Thanks again!

Halomandan- Why so rude! That could have been said a lot more kindly. Yes, it is true, I am a senior in high school, and most sending to me are aware of that. Yes, I have applied to college already. I love to read, love to edit, and do it for fun. Nothing more.

"Also, if her post history is checked, a lot of them are asking to read other essays. Just a warning. " Little confused about this, because 90% of my posts are on the Stanford SCEA Thread. In fact, I don’t believe I’ve asked a person on CC to read my essays, because I was already applied to my top schools by the time I became active on CC.

However, applicants can use their own discretion. I’m certainly kept busy by the 20 or so essays I’m getting a day to edit, and I think most of the recipients of those edits would argue that I do a pretty good job. If you go back a little bit, you can see some pretty positive things. So send them if you want, don’t if you’re worried. Simple.

You guys accusing Courtney of conflicts of interest and inadequate credentials are out of your freaking minds.

First of all, someone who is applying to Stanford, which is widely known to accept only the absolute best of the best students, is probably going to be on average a much better AND more experienced writer and reviewer than your typical college freshman or sophomore going to Random State Universit who got a B average in high school and took no AP or honors classes.

Second, that someone is probably going to be smart enough to realize that giving “fake advice” to a couple hundred people out of the ~1.5 million people who submit the common app every year, is not only going to be a huge waste of time, but also completely futile attempt to improve her own chances.

The only legitimate reason to be concerned about someone in the same applicant pool reviewing your essay is if they might try to use it themselves. But think about it, if someone has reviewed 100 or more essays (with several positive comments for her reviews, as well), and only needs to submit one, does that really sound like a person who is going to copy your essay, the 101st that she is reviewing? Probably not.

The level of paranoia in some of these posts about Courtney is unreal. What’s next, you’re going to call me out for being a dupe account that she made to give the appearance that someone is defending her? For the record, I emailed her an essay (NOT common app) and she graciously reviewed it with useful advice that didn’t occur to me, and frankly I was pleasantly surprised. So count this as yet another positive review for Courtney and hopefully an end to the inane and undeserved skepticism about her credibility that I have seen on here.

Blitzforce- Hey if you’ll read my post, you’ll see that I never accused Courtney of anything. Only WhartonGrad.
Your post made me LOL though! It’s not often one comes across such a solemn post.

Hi, is there anyone here who would read and critique my essay asap, cause i’ve been told its a bit risky. I dint want to crowd the forum with another “read my essay” thread.

Could some people look over this essay and give any advice they have on it. Is the basic content of the essay good or something that will get me rejected? How can I improve the essay? What could I do to make the finished version look good for an admissions office? Please PM me anything you have to say.

I would strongly recommend against posting your essays on a public domain, btw.

Bump: Any readers free ?

ditto - be careful about what you post

Yeah, I didn’t really want to post my stuff online, but I’m not taking chances with blowing my essay. I’d like to maximize my chances of acceptance and would appreciate advice from anyone. Send me any comments or thoughts about my essay.

Thanks
