Consolidated List of Essay Readers on CC

Hello again CC,

It’s summer again and that means one thing: I’m bored and looking to spend my time helping others express themselves in writing to help them get where they need to be/want to be. I can probably do this all the way through August

I am a rising senior in Cornell Engineering from Canada. English is not my first language but I’ve been using English as my main language for 12+yrs.

Some things to keep in mind:
I am known to be tolerant but blunt in my opinions/comments.
If any of my comments somehow manages to offend you, don’t take it personally. You volunteered your essay for review and I volunteered to review your essay. I absolutely have no reason to deride your work or you as a person – I’m already a student and I’m not a competing peer. There is absolutely no need to defend yourself unless you realize you’ve neglected to describe something important that would void my comment.

At the end of the day, it’s your essay and all of my comments are MY comments, nothing more. My opinions/feelings will no way reflect anybody else’s, including the folks at the admissions office. IGNORE ANYTHING YOU DISAGREE WITH AND YOU’LL BE GOLDEN. Your essay needs to reflect you and part of that comes from ignoring comments you disagree with!

PM me and we can get started :D

send me yo essays!

I would be happy to read essays… I did that for my friends last fall, who in turn read and edited mine. PM me.

I will happily read essays and give feedback.

I will read essays for the next three weeks. I recently graduated from high school and will be attending Harvard this fall. Please send me drafts that you have already edited yourself.

I am willing to read essays for the next few months, at least. I just graduated high school and will be attending Stanford in the fall as a prospective English major. Please have already reviewed your essay for grammar and spelling errors.

Parent, English/ESL teacher here. I’ll comment on a few essays this summer. PM or email me. Solid drafts only, please. This is a random act of kindness–I don’t save essays or use them for any other purpose.

Unfortunately, I will be gone for an extended period of time and can no longer read essays. Sorry.

Hello! I’m a sophomore at Columbia, aiming for an English major with a concentration in Psych. I’ve tutored for the past three years now across a number of subjects, and also participated in my high school’s Peer Responding program (essentially, working with students to help them with essays and papers) my junior and senior year. I’ve taken two classes now in which a focus has been put on peer editing, one in Narrative Writing and the other in essays that ranged from lens to research papers.

Thus, I would be more than happy to read over essays (at least for then next few months) and provide whatever help I can. Please, though… edit your essays before you send them over. If there’s anything specific you want to work on in the essay, please note that too.

My dear prospectives, feel free to PM me!

I’ll read essays for the next few weeks (at least through the end of August). I’ll be a freshman this fall at Stanford, admitted REA, prospective Mechanical Engineering major.

Hi, I’m a rising sophomore in college. I’ve read essays for the past two years, and will try to be as helpful as possible.

Hey:) I’m a rising junior in high school and on course for ap literature and ap language. I’m also on my school newspaper and I love writing. Now, most people want only high school or college graduates to read and edit their essays. So I’m not sure if my current “qualifications” would “qualify” me to read any essays. BUT I am willing to read and edit essays if you’re okay with me editing them. I’ll give you my honest feedback and critique. Promise. So pm them over to me if you’d like.

It would be a great experience to know other’s view of the world

I’m finished with my first year of college, PM me your essays and I’ll be happy to read and offer feedback!

I have a B.A. from Stanford and a J.D. from Harvard. PM me your essay, and I would be happy to provide comments. First-come, first-served!

i have a lot of free time and i love editing essays! i am also a very strong editor, since i have experience through the school newspaper and literary magazine. feel free to PM them anytime.

I’m a pretty decent editor, and honest as far as content goes. Feel free to message me for my email!

I’m willing to read some. I’m generally honest, and I have a part-time job as a writer where I have to edit my own work. Also I just went through this madness last year. PM me anytime. (Let me know if you’d specifically prefer general thoughts, grammar/spelling check, etc.)

put me down!
