Has anyone that has/hasen't been accepted contacted the adcom just so that he/she will hear your name and a little something about you? If you did what did you mention?

Yah I did that and I think it is a really underrated piece of the admissions game. I just introduced myself and thanked her for considering my application. You want your name to stand out but don't burden them with a meaningless email/letter either.

you called and said thanks for considering my app?

although that may be part of the "admissions game," wouldn't that be a little random?

In my opinion, that is a bit unnecessary. It won't "help" you in the least bit. If you want to then go ahead, but 99.9% of the Duke applicants that are accepted do not do this.

Also, 82.6% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Hahaha, 50% of the time it works all the time.

(unrelated) note: Baseball is 90% mental; the other half is physical.

No I didn't call... a simple email is sufficient. I disagree. I think many kids do this in some way.
