<p>I'm a cc regular who has decided to use a different screenname to protect anonymity.</p>
<p>I got a letter from my local reader who read my app and said that my essays were great and were beautifully written and made him/her laugh and was singular. he/she also offered my his/her business card and told me to contact with any questions I might have.</p>
<p>My stats are line with other applicants and I generally consider myself a very strong applicant. This comment coupled with my interview in which the alum said that I was great for duke and he/she would do all in his/her power to get me in leads me to believe that I will probably/most likely be accepted come april 1</p>
<p>is this a correct assumpton or am I reading too much into one letter?</p>

<p>I think you're in...why else would they jerk your chain and send you a letter like that, only to reject you in april? College admissions may be a sinister game, but it's not that sinister.</p>

<p>I tried to use gender neutral words so as to remain even more anonymous. I am very happy to have received such a letter.</p>

<p>I think that you stand a great chance... I have somewhat the same scenario, though mine is not as great as yours. Instead, the rep called my guidance counselor and said that I was at the top of his list (not quite sure how to interpret it, just keeping my fingers crossed). I don't think that you need to 'protect' your identity on this board... we're all in the same boat and are very happy for each and every person who makes it in to the Duke class of '09.
