Right now I have an 89.5 unweighted and a 101.5 weighted.

That would come out to on (I assume)

4.00 = 3.5 and 4.5
4.33 = 3.5 and 4.5?
5.00 = 4.5 and 5.5?

scales?

I don't think that what you said is how GPA works. To find your GPA, you have to give yourself a 4.0 for every A you received, a 3.0 for every B, a 2.0 for every C, a 1.0 for every D, and a 0.0 for every F. (Some schools may use 4.33 for A+, 3.67 for A-, 3.33 for B+, and so on). Then you just take the average of all of your 4.0's, 3.0's, etc. That's your GPA.

^That's actually the definition of Grade Point Average...

you could just do the quick way and divide by 25. your unweighted is 3.58 and your weighted is 4.06. that assumes basicly that A+'s don't give you any bonus, but as you probably don't get graded with letters, it doesn't really matter.

I wouldn't recommend that. It depends on how consistent your grades are class to class. For example, your 89.5 average could be a bunch or 85s and an bunch 95s which would lead something close to a 3.5 ... or it could be a few 87s and 88s and a ton of 90-91-92 ... which would lead to something much more like a 3.75-3.8. It really depends on your grades in each class.

togo you assume that your grading system is the same as his. Some schools an A is 94, which by your standards what makes a 3.7 (88's-92's), really is closer to 3.3. Others 90 is an A, and that would make his GPA probably closer to 3.9. Also, some schools don't even use letters, and in that case 3.58 would be his gpa. So dividing it is a pretty quick and efficient way to get the middle ground number.

This depends on the college, but I think I heard (on this message board) that when colleges receive grades on the 100 pt system they'll convert it into a GPA out of 4.0 using bing's definition. So, I agree with what togo said. I think most colleges use 90-100=A, 80-89.9=B, 70-79.9=C, etc.

colleges do not use a 10 pt. scale in conversion. that would mean to get an F in a class you'd have to get a 59. So say your school has 74.9 and below as failing (as my highschool did) that means if you got a 73 you failed in high school, but have a C when you apply to college? makes no sense.

If you're school reports a grade for 74.9, in other words, if they say F, the college will consider it an F. We're talking about the schools where they do not report A, B, C, D, F in a class, only percentages, and have no grade conversions. Then, yes, that is the scale that is most common (74.9 is a solid C), and what they would use.

Hmm, by bing's method it comes out to a 3.43 unweighted an a 4.43 weighted (I assume that PreAP, AP, and IB add 1)

Mediocre, but I think my courseload (9 classes every year with 7 IB and 2 AP this year) and rank (13/458) make up for it enough to have a chance at ivies.

Man, those 4.0 freaks scare me because it appears as if they've done nothing but study!!!!

Hello! Please help me convert my grades from IB notation (score out of 7) to GPA notation, thanks!

I meant, my school did not report anything but number grades. No a,b,c,d,f (except gym which was just P/F). But if you got below 75 you "failed" the class, didn't get credit for it, and had to retake it. So there are reasons why the 10 pt scale doesn't necessarily work or make sense.

Please help me to convert my smester grades also please.....
I dont know how to convert them..

Computer Science HL 7/7
Physics HL 4/7

Thanks

So quite a lot of people are in IB here I see...
Sh** beeant your Computer Science grade is impressive! especially considering its viewed as the hardest class in IB
You could stand to bring the rest up a bit though

really? is it the hardest or one of the hardest...

ur history is also impressive...... :D
