Convert top 25 USNews to Top, difficult, cutthroat environments

One thing I look at a college is its cutthroatness and extreme competitiveness of students. For example, a common point I have received, especially as an aspiring premed, is that Cornell and JHU are really intense for premeds (grade deflation, harsh curves)...so in your opinion, where do you think, in your opinion, are the most cutthroat, competitive, I have no fun or sleep, environments speaking in terms of the top Usnews colleges?

Thanks.

any thoughts?

Cornell science and engineering is definitely cutthroat. Almost every class is curved with the intro courses curved to a C+ to B-

over 90% of jhu premeds are accepted into med school though

JackJackson, I think that's a flawed statistic - think about all those aspring jhu premeds who were doing so badly they had to switch majors! They didn't go to medical school.

Yeah, this thing is depressing because cornell and jhu are my top 2 choices. :/ why didn't I apply to Northwestern, Bucknell, and Emory instead? :(

Exactly......and remember that there is no specific major required for premed.

its also flawed, bc johns hopkins university only writes letters of recomendation to medical school, for those students they feel have a chance of getting in. if you have a 3.0 or somthing, youll just get denied, if everyone applied who wanted to it would be like a 60-70% med school acceptance

Cornell science is NUTS, the most insane thing I ever experienced in my life. Cornell bio 101 is curved to a B-/C+. You have to take a moment to realize what that means -- 50 percent walks out with a C, D, or F. This is called weeding out.

and you didn't know this before you got there?

UPenn Wharton = cutthroat

what about Northwestern premed?

Is Wharton cutthroat in a bad way? Is there people trying to hurt others chances or just constantly trying to get a leg up?

NO........remember that many projects are group oriented. Much of what you do is a simulation of the real business world. You have nothing to worry about as a student at Wharton........

Yikes, so much of your grade depends on the work of others? That scares me to be honest.

I didn't say that it was graded that way.......

what about Duke?

what about Northwestern?
