Convince me

I love politics and want to major in either POly sci, int rel etc.. I know DC is the place to be bt is GW the right school for me? My reservations are that it doesn't have a classic campus (youu know quad etc...) or the sense of community and spirit that goes with it. AM i wrong? Tell em about the campus atmosphere- pol programs? Can the school help me get an internship with congress? Give me you best reason why GW is the place for me!

Well I'm not going to convince you to go to the wrong school, but GW is much more college-y than you realize. There is a quad(kogan plaza) which you would have seen directly next to The Gelman Library or across the street from the visitor's center. Have you walked through campus? Did you like it? There's trees lining the streets and small parks and gardens on campus. Did you see townhouse row or any of the buildings? GW has an attractive campus considering its location. I don't really see the point of going into detail on appearance because you can decide if you like the feel or not just by visiting.

No joke most people have internships at GW. It's not hard in the first place for a college student to get an internship. You are basically signing up to do slave labor for free. GW's location though really helps in getting those because there's a good career services department at GW and GW is within walking distance to the hill and most government buildings, so you while most college students can only do summer internships or take time off, GW students can intern and go to class if you see what I am saying. There's much less competition for fall/spring stuff than summer.

I wouldn't say that GW isn't traditional just because it is urban or in the middle of DC. It is much more insular than I expected and there's students EVERYWHERE, trust me. All freshmen and I think sophmores are required to live on campus, and hardly anyone is actually from DC, so it's not like this is a commuter school with people who go home after class. There's always stuff going on. People come to DC for a full college experience. Most people want to be involved in the school and it's activities. The GW basketball team is also huge on campus so I don't know about the lack of school spirit that you are concerned about.
