PLEASE Help Me Make a Life-Changing Choice!

I'm planning on majoring in political science.
GW gave me $30,000/yr, which knocks them down to just under $20,000.
Emory gave me $10,000/yr, which puts them at about $30,000.
I'm concerned about GW's lack of campus. Emory has always been my 1st choice, I'm trying to appeal for more FinAid tomorrow....please help!

GW does indeed have a campus. It's just a nontraditional unique campus. I really like the campus because it adds to the exciting energy of GW. The campus allows students to access all the best resources of DC. You're in walking distance from government buildings, the monuments, the national mall. There's a metro stop right on campus to take you to the rest of the city.

If you want to study poli sci, GW's one of the best places to do it. PM or email me if you have more questions about GW.

Gw's campus is much better than Emory's IMO. Emory is a better school though.

I would agree with that assessment.

Personally, I would take GW... $$40,000 over four years is a lot of money, and you'll be glad when you graduate that you don't have to pay it back.

In addition, if you want the traditional campus feel, you could always live on the Mount Vernon campus... Though like the other posters day, I think GW's campus is amazing. The facilities are top-notch. The dorms are about the best you'll get at any campus. The classrooms are like, brand new.

Not sure what IMO means, and I know GW has a "campus" but you know what I mean, it's very urban (I like a more traditional feel) and I don't want to live at Mt. Vernon and commute to classes every day.
I'm trying to appeal to Emory for more FinAid...but I'm not sure it's going to happen...

IMO=In my opinion. Either school you go to you will do well, but going to GW might suprise you in how traditional a campus it is. Are you closed off from the rest of the world? No. But you know very much when you are in GW territory.

^^agreed.

visit and see for yourself. also, check out the panoramas on this map:

Okay, I've been to GW several times, I know what the "campus" is like. I just don't like how urban it is, I like Emory's better, that's the bottom line.

you know you want to go to Emory- so just go- i probably would- although i do hate atlanta

Yeah, it sounds like you already made your mind up. Why are you being so condescending to those that are trying to help you? Please, go to Emory.

really now that i think about emory's campus isn't that great either. the buildings are really borign/bland---the only thing diff. between GWU's and Emory is just some pathetic grass----but hey I'm not arguing that Emory is a much better school-although i know little about their poli sci major--- i reconize emory's name more with pre-med engineering and science stuff

At GW you're in the nation's capital. At Emory you're just in Atlanta.

As a poli sci major, what's more important?

location should only be a limited factor when choosing a college...don't give it too much weight- you can easily overcome the disadvantage of being in atlanta. i'm sure emory has a high status when it comes to doign interships with the georgia gov. or you could attend a semester at washington program of emory's--but if you do go to emory- can i have the money GW gave you?
