Cooper Union 2018 ED Art

hello! this thread is for people who are applying 2018 ED Art for Cooper Union. please feel free to leave comments, vent about the home test, and discuss it!

hey! did you get in?

haha not yet. i applied ED so i’m still working on the hometest. it’s due jan 4th

are you writing little statements about your artworks? i noticed that is not required for the hometest but im not sure to add them or not

mxwi910 I’m thinking about including a small booklet that explains how my hometest links to the prompt just to make things clear, but I’m not sure if I should do the same thing with portfolio stuff

i think im going to attach explanations for my hometest and portfolio

alright so how did everyone’s hometest go

Hi - I am a parent of an ED applicant and new to this thread. My daughter submitted her home test yesterday - yes - in the snow storm with the school closed - but security took it for us!) Anyway, I was wondering with the number of applicants so high and the acceptance rate so low - does anyone know how many people apply ED? Also, I thought it was strange that 50 % of students are from NY with 30% from NYC itself. That seemed strange to me since it is obviously a top-ranked school. What is that about? It not like 30% of people who go to Harvard are from Massachusetts. Anyway…It’s going to be a long month.

weavermom, I was actually on my way to nyc but went back home mid way after receiving the email. I ended up shipping it via overnight delivery, haha. Anyways, yes I remember hearing something about how they have a quota for New York students. I’m not sure if that’s true or not. I don’t know how many people apply to ED and get accepted, but the representative I talked to during NPD said that applicants have a higher chance of being admitted via Early Decision. Good luck to your daughter!

weavermom, maybe housing can be a factor. It’s a school in the middle of the city with almost no housing, parents might not want their kids to go there? harvard has guaranteed housing for four years lol

i know that decisions are supposed to be out at feb first but does it come out on that date or is it usually delayed?

who got the email that the decisions will be delayed? UGHHHHHHHHHH such cheesers

@sooshsoosh I GOT THE SAME EMAIL TOO

weavermom- good luck, but know the admissions process is extremely opaque and arbitrary .

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Good news. My daughter was accepted ED today!!! We are so excited.

@weavermom if you have documentation of your daughter’s hometest content, would you be willing to share that?
