I was wondering, is General Engineering at Cooper Union a valuable degree? I plan to use it to make a sort of BME major for myself, but is it seen as just as worthy as a mechanical engineering/chemical engineering degree?
Also, is it difficult to double major at CU? I am considering doubling in Mechanical and General, so I feel like it would be managable (considering how flexible General Engineering is and how much overlap there is).
It is impossible to double major at Cooper. One reason is the workload. Second reason is you will never be able to make the schedule work because there’s only one section for each course and the required courses for each major will overlap.
Plus, having a general and an ME doesn’t make much sense. Why not just get an ME? If you decide when you get deep enough in you can use your electives for a BME focus or better yet, get an MS.
