Some of you might think I’m making a big deal out of nothing, others might not. I’m just wondering if I should be feeling guilty over copying in my Chemistry class, it’s the only class I’ve copied in during high school and I feel really bad about it. I feel as if I don’t deserve my rank (4). Maybe if I wouldn’t have copied I would have ended up with a B- and not a B. I would feel bad getting into a good school without them knowing I copied a little. Should I mention it? I am currently in 11th grade and this happened in 10th. I never copied on a test.
Copying in hard classes is a lot worse than copying in easy classes which don’t really pique your interest. Saying that, your decision would almost certainly not be any different if you had gotten a B- or were rank 5/xxx. I think you already kind of know this.
Don’t mention it, please. They’re not going to be impressed by your honesty. Literally everyone has copied something or split homework up between friends or shared answers, it’s what high school was made for.
I don’t think copying assignments is anything to be ashamed of. One should aim to get the best grade possible, how that grade is obtained is irrelevant.
Let’s hope gearsstudio does not want to be a doctor or a bridge engineer.
OP, forget about college for a minute. You made some bad choices. It sounds like you’re making good ones now. Keep doing that. You’ll be OK.
Here’s my philosophy: No matter what you do to get an A in high school will not matter when you get accepted to an elite college. If you have the wit to cheat your way out of some classes, you certainly have the wit to study and maintain good grades.
Why do all the work, say, when you take 5 AP classes and stay up until 4am studying when you can cut the work in half and still benefit by understanding the concepts while cheating?
Don’t do it again and you won’t feel the guilt again. Problem solved, put the past transgressions behind you.
