I have a question...For one of my admissions essays I used a quote. It's implied that the quote comes from a particular novel. The implication is actually PRETTY obvious -- the reader knows exactly who both the novel and the author are. However, am I breaching copyright rules by not DIRECTLY citing the author? If so, I want the admissions officers to know that I did not intend to do so. I already sent my essay in; should I send a letter to the college stating that I did not intend to breach copyright rules, and send them another copy of my essay with the citation inserted? It's okay if I send in this correction after the due date, right (since it's a correction)? Or, is this a minor thing I'm being paranoid about?
