Core curriculum and how does it count...

Hi guys.
Could anyone give me some information about the core curriculum at UCXB?
For how long do I have to take which subjects and how do they count into my final grade?

THX,
SoWhat

Hope this helps somewhat.
You have to complete your general education (GE). It also depends on your major. Some majors have more pre-reqs than others as well as more classes you have to take for that major. Everything you take counts as part of your grade. Some classes you can take as Pass/No Pass (P/NP) and those won’t count in your GPA like a letter grade would, which is good when a class could really hurt your GPA. However, most majors don’t allow you
to take courses that are required for that specific major as P/NP.

This is the GE requirements if you’re going towards a B.A in the
College of Letters & Science

Area A(English Reading and Composition): 2 courses
Area B(Foreign Language): exam or course
Area C(Science, Mathematics and Technology): 3 courses
Area D(Social Sciences): 3 courses
Area E(Culture and Thought): 3 courses
Area F(Arts): 2 courses
Area G(Literature): 2 courses
Writing: 6 courses
Quantitative Relationships: 1 course
World Cultures: 1 course
Ethnicity: 1 course
European Traditions: 1 course
(you can take more courses in a certain area if you want, but
those are just the required to complete your GE requirement.)

You can check it out with more explanation here:

it also has the GE requirments for a B.S, B.F.A, & B.M

And this website provides a bit of what you can expect
to take once you decide what major you’re going for.

Hopefully this helps ! Anyone can feel free to correct me or add on !

for area b the foreign language, if you took 3 years of it in hs, you can opt out. classes you take can sometimes satisfies more Area a-g, but you can only choose one to satisfie however, those classes can satisfy other requirements like writing, ethnicity, and so on. those will satisfy all of them. like chican@ studies would be an area D, but it also satisfies writing and ethnicity requirements as well. you’ll find out which classes satisfies what when you register for classes.
