I was invited for the Lanier subportion's interview last year. It was for Saturday, February 14th around 4pm if I recall correctly. I was the last person interviewed. The whole thing took 45 min - 1 hour, with most of that time spent looking for parking in Atlanta. I know this doesn't help a lot of you, but if you happen to be one of the lucky folks in those seven metro-Atlanta counties... good luck. (I think I got the invitation around the end of the first week in Feb.)

Can anyone confirm that engineering applicants don't need an interview for this scholarship? Does that mean they are not notified, successful or otherwise, until late March?

thanks, emoticon89 and dianagirl!

More specifically, what time on Sunday did you have to be at Vandy?

emoticon89- my son was told(by the admissions counselor @ vandy) that the lanier scholarship had been rolled into the corneliius vanderbilt and therefore did not have a separate application this year. He is first in class of 500, 1580 SAT, ECs, leadership, and strong essays. He found out last week that a student with lower stats was a finalist for the Lanier (which supposedly didn't exist this year). He is reluctant to contact Vandy direct, but extremely disappointed at the incorrect information. He did apply for the Cornelius. Can you/anyone shed any light on the Lanier?? thanks

apparently last year the cornelius vanderbilt finalists (a&s) got an email around this time (presidents day). i didnt get an email, but if anyone else did, please post!

Would they contact people who weren't accepted as a finalist?

^ Noooooooooooooo! haha please let it not be today. I haven't gotten anything :(:(:(:(:(

but, wait, it's a holiday, so their office isn't even open! So how could they send the email?

i dont know if they contact you if you dont make it..i doubt it because i think they notify less-substantial scholarships later...

and yes, it's a holiday, but last year they mailed them on this holiday. but i agree- hopefully they havent yet!

Good luck you über geniuses! :)

i just read that last year there were 50 finalists who were invited to the interview weekend. does anyone know how many finalists actually receive the scholarship? or how many people apply for it?
