cornellpezra,
Sorry for the mistake. You are correct it was for an information session.

Aw I’ll be on the computer the WHOLE DAY so I’ll definitely know when the decision login is released :D

smileygerl, are you saying your meeting with a Cornell alum was purely informational?

Drelnis, is Cornell releasing the decision login info soon?

mickjagger - you know as much as I do :D

Let’s wait til December rolls around and then we can have fun guessing xD

Does anyone know when we find out about acceptances? I’m officially in freak-out mode. I’m hearing a lot of things…someone said an interviewer told him that the notification date would be the 13th. However, a friend of mine in Cornell told me that you receive your letter in the mail on the 15th, but you can find out online on the 11th. The Princeton Review also lists December 15th as the ED notification date.

At any rate, last year’s ED applicants received their log-in information in an e-mail on December 1st, so I guess it’s not too long of a wait now…

My “informational session” was surprisingly interview-like. My alum had a notebook with questions and jotted down notes. She also talked about the report she would send in. I think it went well though. Btw, I applied ILR.

My info session was also more of an interview…I was quite surprised because the alum kept saying in the e-mail that it was informative only and not evaluative

That’s strange. My person only asked me a couple of questions. I had to ask him like 20 or more just to keep the meeting going! Overall not nearly as scary as i thought it would be. Then again it was the person’s first time…

do you think they’ve made most decisions?

The alumni “info sessions” appear to be done for these reasons: 1) it keeps alumni active & feeling they are still part of Cornell (which in turn helps endowments) 2) They can screen for any obvious personality issues with a canidate. I’d guess that if the admissions committee was “on the fence” over a canidate & the alumni interviewer felt the canidate to be pompous…then it could tilt the decision.

How come no alumni contacted me?:(

^No alumni in your area

I heard that we would be receiving our notifications on Dec 15. However, a member of the admissions office told me that the entire Admissions Board would come to a general consensus on Dec 9. Probably between those two dates we will have an answer. (I just hope this information comes out before semester exams…)

Really? How did you meet a member of Admissions?

so are decisions released on the 9th at 5pm or not?

where did u read that thats when decisions are given out ?

someone posted a whole thread announcing it a couple of weeks ago.

Mickjagger,

The alumni specifically used the term information session.
