So these are the two only accredited business schools in the ivy league.

AEM is small and has the lower acceptance rate. It also is ranked 1 in finance by Business week, but Wharton has been around longer and definitely has the prestige of being the "best" business school.

For finance though and in eventually pursuing an investment banking job, how do you guys think they stack up?

I say Wharton. The best in business undergrad, and, according to the London Financial Times, best in the WORLD for graduate studies. It has "the name" that jumps off a resume. Much more selective than Cornell, too. I don't think you can match the business program at Wharton!

I kinda think Wharton has it beat in most, if not all, categories... including and especially finance. Wharton is an investment banking juggernaut.

^ agreed
and...
"AEM is small and has the lower acceptance rate."
are you sure about the rate? and if so, it's probably because the super-qualified students are applying to Wharton instead (of course this is a generalization)

Ya I'm doubting the rate too based on Cornell's #13 "academic quality" ranking as opposed to Wharton's #1 ranking on U.S. News... Of course those are just rankings and don't necessarily depict accuracy... but it's something to go by.

well, the rate for AEM is really low mainly due to the fact that only about 100 freshmen are admitted each year. It was 11.9% last year and not sure exactly what it was for Penn last year but my guess is Cornell's was lower.

Although I can't vouch for the numbers for this year since Wharton saw a small decrease in ED applicants due to the economic crisis (still haven't released RD numbers, which could easily make up for this), I can say something about the Class of 2012... According to the rep. that came to my school last year, class of 2012 Wharton (ED + RD) acceptance rate was in the single digits.

Also, is aem a four year business school? I don't think it is, but that is just an assumption.

AEM is definitely great, but Wharton is far better known and more highly respected. The students at Wharton are also, in general, much better. A lot of kids turn down most other colleges for Wharton, whereas with AEM I think that is not the case.

you get much better weather down here =p
