Cornell and Northwestern in theater

<p>This message is meant for "crypticism" but since she doesn't seem to have activated the "private messenging" I'll post it hear- anyone who has anything to add about these two schools (especially regarding theater) please do!</p>

Since it looks like we have the same interests and are looking at the same schools I have a few questions for you:
1. What have you heard about the drama department at Cornell? I've heard great things from some people, but most people don't know about it. Do you think the fact that it doesn't have a visible reputation means anything at all? How do you think it compares to the program at Northwestern?
2. You told me that you went through the "cherub" program at NU. How intense did you find it? What were the other students there like? What would you say about the talent level- intimidating? not intimidating? Do you think the musical theater segment is very difficult to get in to? I attended the CAP 21 summer program this year (loved it) and they admitted a lot of kids who you wouldn't have expected them to. Does the same hold true for NU's program? What was the "atmosphere" like?</p>

<p>1) I know very little about the Cornell drama department. I started looking at Cornell, but decided Ithaca wasn't where I wanted to be, and stopped. I haven't heard much about it, but I'm sure it's okay. I would suggest looking at the theater program's page and course descriptions. Also, do a search for Cornell on live journal (most colleges have a journal) and ask someone on there. Let me know if you want any help.. </p>

<p>2) I could go on forever about Cherubs.. I'm going to try to figure out the whole 'pm' thing, and send you what I have to say that way.. because there'll be a lot.</p>

<p>I think that Northwestern theater is better,BUT, you may want to check out either Carnegie Mellon or NYU for theater. Both are, in my opinion, better. CMU has a lot of successful people who have made it into Hollywood and on plays.</p>

<p>CMU is a conservatory program.. And NYU is pretty close. They're EXCELLENT though, if that's what you want. Northwestern has one of the best non conservatory theater programs. (Yale, Washington U, Vassar, and a few others are also great)</p>
