Cornell Arts & Science vs. Columbia Engineering

I am having a very hard time choosing between Cornell Arts & Science and Columbia Engineering. I haven't decided my major yet, but I am thinking among Mathematics, Physics, and Civil Engineering. I am also thinking of attending graduate school in the future. I have been nominated scholars program from both schools: Tanner Dean's Scholar from Cornell, and C. Prescott Davis Scholar from Columbia. Still, I cannot decide which universities I should choose because I do not have a clear understanding on the opportunities, benefits, and limitations each school has. I would really appreciate if anyone could give me advice on which school would be better for me to attend. Thanks! :)

I suggest you visit both campuses. Cornell and Columbia are two very different environments.

The Thing is, I am an international applicant, so I might not be able to visit both schools in April.

I strongly recommend Cornell. Columbia engineering really isn’t that great…

Have you researched the course offerings at both universities in each of the subjects you may wish to pursue? I know nothing about Columbia, but can comment that it is very easy to take classes in any of the other undergraduate colleges at Cornell.

You would be able to conduct that research from home and then post specific questions on the appropriate school’s forum.

Ignoring academics for a moment, Columbia is in New York city and Cornell is in upstate New York, a little less than four hours north of NY city. Urban vs. rural. Very different experience.
