you can wait a long time and mull over your options. let me tell you:

singles are better...

after orientation week 14 meals will be more than enough, but you can always adjust down to 10 or 7. The green dragon cafe, temple of zeus, tatkon, and other places are nice to grab a bite without a sit down meal.

bus passes were free for us...if you bought one they refunded the fee for us. make sure to get one...they're awesome. ummm, want advice on the other options?

i just checked my selfservice page. it doesn't have that link.

Why after orientation week?

Bikes, yes or no? I heard they're easy to steal.

bring a bike if you have one. get a lock...why would anybody steal your bike within the cornell community? there are bike rooms in the dorms.

you have no classes and few obligations during O week. this means plenty of time for full sit down meals. when you have this to do at X:XXAM and this to do at X:XXPM you will have odd eating habits between classes that vary by day in time, duration, and location. Sometimes you'll have an hour and a half to walk to north campus and sit down, sometimes you'll have an hour to eat on west, or sometimes you'll have just a few minutes to grab a sandwich, or sometimes you'll have an hour and a half but need to grab a sandwich and run to north to finish a paper...see?

ok so sparticus i'm a little confused about the meal plan. how does it work? i'm concerned b/c since I will be an architecture student, i'm not sure how much tim e i will have to walk to noyes or north campus for a meal every single morning, lunch, and dinner. ..so would the meal plan be feasible? (this is assuming that the meal plan pays for every meal)..or is it more like you pre-pay a certain number of meals and can use it whenever time you want...

does the green dragon cafe use the meal plan as well? cause the stuff there is quite pricey..i think..but i come from arizona so i don't know

Regarding bicycles...

Can I just buy one in Ithaca? The thought of lugging a bike on an airplane isn't all that appealing. Do many people ride bikes or are buses/cars preferred?

I don't see that link on mine... It'd be nice to find out some of this stuff before we get it in the mail in April.

One advice: don't ever get the unlimited meal plan because after the first week at Cornell you will never wake up to eat breakfast!

green dragon is not meal plan.

you get X meals per week for the semester, and you pay up front. I'd say start with a 10, but you'll likely move to 7.

buy a bike online and have it shipped to ithaca. or buy a bike in ithaca.

would u suggest getting a laptop? or does cornell have computers everywhere?

get a laptop, not a desktop. Cornell is one of the most wired campuses there is, but you're at a major disadvantage not having a computer.

I eat a lot and I don't think 14 meals would be enough, but everyone on here is saying to not get more than 14, so would it still be a bad idea for me to get the unlimited meal plan?

Thanks in advance

Remember, jamison215, that the meal plans come with $500 worth of "Big Red Bucks".

If you did the 14 meal one, and you were out of meals for the week, you could just use the BRB to buy your food.

Alright, thanks jrcho, and we all still have a lot of time to think it over too

Ah, I got that now too.

Is there any reason not to fill this out now? At least stuff for the ID card and miscellaneous things like that just to get it out of the way?

For those who don't have this link yet who got in ED - my guess is they'll put that link on as soon as they receive and process your deposit and confirmation.

Yeah, you're probably right. I sent the deposit a couple days ago so everything hasn't processed yet.

how do u know if they got ur deposit?
why do u need a bike(can't ride it in the snow)cornell has a bus system?

i just checked my self service, and instead of having the "Your Decision" page it now says... "Your application something something not available till late January"... instead of my beautiful acceptance page. did your guys' say this before it gave you the Cornell bound forms?

i got that now wasn't there earlier
