Cornell Chances

I am a junior in a small high school. I have a 3.3 GPA. I understand that this is incredibly poor, but it is competitive at my high school, and I am in the top 15% of my class. My projected SAT score is 1950ish. I have done the following extracurricular activities:
-Drama - I am currently the Treasurer and will be the president next year.
-Student Government - I have been a class representative for two years.
-Community Service - I have 60ish hours of community service.

I have also suffered from the effects of alcoholism in my family, which I view as a possible hook in my essay. This may or may not matter, I do not know.

Thank you for any feedback!

Extreme reach, sorry.

Thank you for your feedback! I was ready for that answer… Is there anything you would advice that I do in order to improve my chances? Also, I forgot to mention that I am a minority.

You are a junior right? Try to get your grades up higher (up to a 3.5?) and SAT scores. Still though it is a VERY reach school. My advice would be to get your SAT up well above 2200+. My counselor explained to me about having hooks and other things that effected your grades as far as how the college see them like this: The college would see your application, see your SAT scores and be impressed (if they are high), and then look at your grades and wonder why they aren’t as good, but then read your essays and understand why. So work on your essays and SAT scores and get good recs (and maybe get involved in more activities, yours is kinda low for Cornell). But if you don’t get in freshman year you can always transfer if Cornell is your dream school. Do you know what college you want to apply to at Cornell?
